When I started smoking cigars, I made it a point to smoke cigars that where on the CA top 10 for that year. Quite frankly, I don't see the point in smoking a cigar and not enjoying it. When I get the chance to relax, I try to make them count. On a good month I will usually enjoy 3-5 cigars and when I say enjoy, that is the intent. For me, a good cigar is only truly enjoyed when amongst good company.
Here is a list of the Top 10 cigars I enjoyed during this past year and think you must try. These are not elusive Cigars or 50.00 privates, these can be found at local shops that specialize in Cigars with the exception on #3 by Cuban Crafters (Click the banner below). I tend to prefer the medium to full bodied so that's what is mostly on my list. There are some great mild bodied cigars I would recommend like the Edge Light or the K. Hansotia Symphony and for a nice taste you need to try the Java by Drew Estates or the CAO Moontrance. - so here you go.
1. Rocky Patel Decade Toro - No doubt - Rocky keeps raising the bar.
2. Oliva Series V Torpedo - This was the one cigar from last years CA top 5 I really enjoyed.
3. Cuban Crafters 1959 Miami Edition Torpedo - Jorge handed me one of these on a recent trip to Miami. Wow, made the trip.
4. Rocky Patel Renaissance Toro - I loved this cigar paired with some Grand Marnier. From the first puff, I was doing a double take.
5. Padron 1926 No.9 - There has to be a Padron on the list. This is a great and consistent cigar, but pricey.
6. Gurkha Shaggy Solomon - It's the older brother of the Shaggy. Much smoother.
7. La Flor Dominicana Chisel Maduro -
8. Illusione cg4
9. Nub Habano
10. Alec Bradley Tempus Novo Terra
Notable previous mentions: Rocky Patel SunGrown, CAO Brazilia, Rocky Patel Vintage 1990,
I can't guarantee you'll love them all, but you certainly won't be disappointed. Drop me a line and tell me your top 5 of the year and what you are looking forward to try this year. Chip@GuysandGars.com
